Travel + Leisure A List Travel Agent Gwen Kozlowski

Gwen Kozlowski

Austria, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, and Slovakia are among the favorites of this Central Europe specialist, who regularly hits the ground to find out about the latest flight routes, hotel openings, and cultural offerings. (Last fall, she spent eight days in rural Hungary on a scouting trip.) She’s a pro at planning multi-generational itineraries — a growing trend, and one of her preferred ways to travel — and has an eye for activities with appeal for all ages, like outdoor waltz lessons in Vienna or a tour of the grounds of the 1972 Olympics in Munich.

No trip is too complex, no ask too inconvenient for this veteran advisor. Kozlowski recently planned a trip for three couples — each coming from different cities and embarking on separate itineraries — who wanted to meet in the middle for a few days. (Plus, says Kozlowski, “they all asked to have European-plug hair straighteners waiting at their first hotel.”) No special interest is too specific, either: a recent Central Europe itinerary for a landscape designer involved visits to both remarkable gardens and local garden centers like you’d find at a big box hardware store in the U.S.

"Everything was first class. There were absolutely no glitches; all the guides and drivers were prompt and great. When we got off the train in Budapest, our driver was standing at the bottom of the platform waiting for us!" — Ray
